What’s been going on lately?
With any new project there have been a few ups and downs and since we first opened our doors it has been mainly ups rather than downs. Initially we had some quieter nights due to not having the time to market properly but these are picking up now every night. We have spent a fair amount on marketing recently and word is definitely getting out there. From a starting point of just 40 members we now have 570 and this is growing daily. In a period of less than a month this isn’t too bad. The best form of marketing though is by word of mouth so please refer your friends to us. I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t like the club so if you haven’t been down yet then please take the time to do so.
The goal for the club was to have a nice friendly environment so that the members can use all of the facilities and become the social hub of the area and we certainly have that. The more numbers we can get at the club the more the committee can do for you and we have been active in getting some fun events for everyone to partake in. We recently held a pool tournament with £75 for the winner and £25 for the runner up and had a free poker tournament that attracted 104 players. We also had a Heads Up Challenge freeroll where the winner picked up £100 for his efforts and the runner up £50 with the two losing semi-finalists £25 each. With regards to marketing any ideas would be gratefully appreciated and we are open to suggestions. What’s Coming up?
We have recently updated the website so please keep looking in there and we will also be mailing to our members and sometimes texting to keep you informed on events at the club, please let us know if you don’t wish to be included in these updates.
Poker
For all members interested in playing Poker, our summer league is now up and running where you can a win a seat at event 1 of the WSOPE in September. The league runs on a Tuesday and Thursday night starting at 8.00pm and will have a total of 16 events; we have only had 3 so far so there is every chance of winning the league.
We are now getting busy every night and have amended the structure to suit everyone’s needs. Every night we also have cash tables available. The structure is now on the main page of the website.
- We have launched a £5k guaranteed event on Sunday 2nd August at 2 pm which we are now taking reservations for.
- Every Saturday afternoon The Live Pub Poker League use our venue for its players where they play for points and then can stay on to play in our evening games. The first one was held last Saturday and had a very good turnout. This is a free to enter tournament so if you are a beginner this is the best way to learn to play.
- Every Wednesday The Apple Poker league will also host free to enter poker games and will also be running a monthly tournament where you can win a package to next years WSOP main event package.
Both the above are in addition to our usual schedules.
We will shortly be running a number of special tournaments and will be looking into having weekend daytime events as well as the evening and also having say on a Friday and Saturday night a smaller buy in tournament running alongside a bigger buy in tournament so you can select which games you want to play.
Pool
The pool league starts shortly and we will be looking at having 2 teams so if you are interested in playing in this league then please let us know by mailing or ringing in. Our Pool table is also only 50p a game so if just want to play socially we have a great table with a very cheap pay rate.
Snooker
When we renovated the club we kept and re –set the best table and this is a free to use table. If you are of a good standard and want to form a team for league play then again please let us know and we will enter the league.
Darts
If you are a budding Phil Taylor then we are about to enter the darts league so please let us know and we will get your name down for the team.
Chess and Backgammon
We will shortly be running tournaments for these and will be having an international chess master coming down to take on all comers so watch the website for all details.
Races at Goodwood
On the Friday 31st July we will be putting on a coach for Goodwood races. Further details will follow but please let us know if this appeals to you so that we can gauge the level of interest.
